MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Elmhurst University women's tennis team won its third straight match to kick off the 2022 season by shutting out Buena Vista University 9-0.

In doubles play, Jolene Neuhalfen and June Bering defeated Gabby Kardell and Hailey Meseck 8-1 at No. 1. At. No. 2, the Bluejays' pairing of Megan Engstrom and Brynn Rubacky defeated Alexis McGinnis and Jenny Almanza 8-4. Alitza Munoz and Valerie Schallmo earned a win by forfeit at No. 3 doubles. 

In singles play, Neuhalfen stopped McGinnis 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 while Bering followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Kardell at No. 2. Barak defeated Meseck 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 while Rubacky scored a 6-1, 6-2 win over King at No. 4. Engstrom shut out Almanza 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 while Munoz earned a win by forfeit at No. 6. 

Elmhurst hosts the College of Lake County on Tuesday, September 6.
