CHICAGO, Ill. – The Elmhurst University volleyball team fell to CCIW foe North Park University 21-25, 18-25, 25-21, 19-25.
After trailing by as many as seven in the opening set, the Bluejays were able to tie the score up at 20 apiece before North Park (9-3/1-1 CCIW) went on a 5-1 run to take set one.
Elmhurst (3-6/0-2 CCIW) dropped set two 18-25, but scored four unanswered points, two of which came from service aces by
Alli Schwartz before North Park closed out the set.
The Bluejays bounced back and took set three 25-21, before falling in the fourth set 19-25.
The Vikings earned the win hitting .154 with 48 kills and 24 errors in 156 attempts. Leading the way on offense for North Park was Adriana Rodriguez with 17 kills, Rhianna Huebner with eight kills and Kailyn Matthews with six kills. Carolina Aviles tallied three aces, five assists and 20 digs, while Christina Gatta finished with 34 assists and 13 digs.
Elmhurst hit .074 with 38 kills and 27 errors in 149 attempts.
Elise Rossing led the way for the Bluejays with 14 kills and three blocks, while
Jada Wiley chipped in nine kills and 17 digs.
Katelyn Bower and
Keely Larson tallied a game-high five blocks each.
Erin Murray led the team in assists with 15 with
Kellyn Kennedy following closely behind with 14 of her own. Peyton Ceh finished with 13 digs in the loss.
The Bluejays head to Lake Forest College on Friday, September 23 for two matches against Benedictine at 5:30 p.m. and Lake Forest at 7:30 p.m.
