LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at the Lake Forest College Triangular. The Bluejays fell 3-1 to Benedictine University before falling 3-2 to the host Foresters.
BENEDICTINE 3, ELMHURST 1- Benedictine rallied from a set down to defeat the Bluejays 13-23, 25-23, 27-25, 15-19.
Elmhurst (3-8) jumped out to large lead in the first set, opening up a 10-5 advantage and never looking back on route to a 25-13 win. The Bluejay held a 23-19 lead in the second set but the Eagles scored six straight points to take the set 25-23.Â
Elmhurst opened up an 18-13 lead in the third set and served for the set on two occasions, but the Eagles fought off two set points to take the set 27-25. The Eagles never trailed in the fourth set, turning a 12-12 tie into a 20-14 lead before closing out the set and the match at 25-19.Â
Elmhurst hit .148 for the match with 51 kills and 29 errors in 149 attempts.
Keely Larson led the way for Elmhurst with 16 kills.
Jada Wiley added 12 kills and 10 digs while
Lacey Kaiser chipped in with seven kills.
Erin Murray totaled 18 assists while
Kellyn Kennedy tallied 15.
Payton Ceh finished with 12 digs while
Madison Forss finished with 10.Â
LAKE FOREST 3, ELMHURST 2 - Elmhurst came up short in a 28-26, 12-25, 21-25, 25-17, 15-11 loss to Lake Forest College.Â
Down 2-1 entering the fourth, Elmhurst forced a decisive fifth set after edging Lake Forest 27-25 in the fourth set. In the fifth set, the match was tied at 8-8 and again at 11-11, but Lake Forest scored the final four points to take the match.Â
Wiley paced Elmhurst in the loss with 14 kills and 12 digs.
Katelyn Bower added eight kills and five blocks while
Elise Rossing and Larson finished with eight kills each. Kennedy led the team in assists with 26 while Ceh led the squad in digs with 26.
Elmhurst plays at Wheaton College on Saturday, September 24.Â
