Bluejays Draw MSOE

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst University men's soccer team tied its first contest of the season against the Milwaukee School of Engineering, 3-3, at Langhorst Field.

The Bluejays took a 1-0 lead with just over two minutes remaining in the first half after Eric Berezne found the back of the net off of a pass from teammate Alan Lopez-Paredes.

Elmhurst (3-3-1) extended its lead to 2-0 after a sequence that started from a free kick from Hayden Madsen followed by a quick one touch by Lopez-Paredes to Aaron Rutherford for his first collegiate goal.

The final Bluejay goal came in the 61st minute of play when Ilija Jerinic finished off of a pass from David Falleiros.

MSOE (6-0-1) scored three goals in 21 minutes to tie the game up at three apiece.

Leading the way for the Raiders was Zach Thompson who finished with a pair of goals, while Nathan Dresen tallied one goal of his own in the draw.

Noah Reed collected 11 saves in goal for the Bluejays, while Ethan Houseworth and Asher Harris combined for three saves for the Raiders.

Elmhurst opens up CCIW play on Saturday, September 24 against North Central at Langhorst Field at 7:30 p.m.
