Women's Lacrosse Falls at North Central

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Elmhurst University women's lacrosse team fell 20-3 in a conference matchup against North Central College.

The Bluejays (0-11/0-5 CCIW) kept the contest close in the opening period by holding the Cardinals to four goals. Catie Schenatzki scored her first goal with 5:56 left in the first quarter to put the Bluejays on the board.

North Central's (4-11/2-3 CCIW) defense prevented Elmhurst from scoring in the second and fourth quarters. The Cardinals put up 10 and three goals, respectively, in those periods to secure the win.

Elmhurst's Gracie Eastman and Schenatzki scored back-to-back goals in the third quarter for the Bluejays.

The Bluejays were led by Eastman who won five draw controls, while Gaby Castillo picked up a team-high five groundballs to go along with three draw controls of her own.

The Cardinals were led by Abby Mackenzie with five goals and one assist. Berit Vandenbroucke chipped in four goals and one assist, while Ellie Yonak added in three goals in the win. Tanya Czosek, Mary Pinkowski and Lucy Culig finished with a pair of goals each for North Central. Culig also led the team with six groundballs and five won draw controls. Bry'Shawna Walker and Reese McMullen rounded out the scoring for the Cardinals with one goal apiece.

Corinna Salmon and Marie Corpuz finished with a combined eight saves for Elmhurst, while Abigail Widd earned the win with 11 saves.

The Bluejays are back in action at Langhorst Field on Wednesday, April 27 at 4:30 pm when they host the Vikings of Augustana College.
