Freddie March homered twice and drove in five runs while helping the Elmhurst University baseball team blow out Grinnell College 17-1.
Elmhurst improved to 3-2 on the season while Grinnell fell to 2-1.
Freddie March helped the Bluejays blow the game open in the fourth and fifth innings. March cracked a solo homer in the fourth to put Elmhurst up 1-0. After a
Trey Romay RBI single in the fifth, March blasted a grand slam to extend Elmhurst's lead to 5-0.
The Bluejays added a run in the seventh on a RBI single from Romay and then plated three runs in the eighth.
Brett Bishop tripled homer a pair of runs for Elmhurst in the eighth. The Bluejays put the game away with seven runs in the ninth.
Jonathan Mays finished with three hits, scored three runs and also drove in two. March finished 2-for-4 with a pair of homers and five RBIs. Bishop knocked in three runs and scored three runs while Romay drove in two with a pair of hits.
Troy Taller added two hits and drove in a run for the Bluejays.
Noah Jordan made the start and picked up the victory from the mound. Jordan allowed just one hit and one earned run over seven innings of work. He walked six while striking out three.
Cole Bozzi pitched the final two innings in relief, allowing just one hit and one one walk while fanning four.
Elmhurst takes on the Illinois Insititute of Technology next Saturday, March 12, in Jacksonville.
