JACKSONVILLE, Ill. –  The Elmhurst University baseball team moved to 4-3 on the season after splitting a pair of contests on the road. The Bluejays hammered Eureka 15-5 before falling to the Illinois Institute of Technology 10-3.

ELMHURST 15, EUREKA 5 – Freddie March homered twice and drove in six runs to spark the Bluejays' to a 15-5 rout of Eureka College.

Elmhurst jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead after sending 10 batters to the plate in the first inning. March smashed a grand slam to start the Bluejays' scoring.
Drew Raspolich added a run-scoring double and Jessie James added a RBI triple.
The Bluejays added runs in each of the next five innings to blow the game open. The Bluejays plated four runs in the fifth aided by a three-run blast from
Paul Fomby and a solo shot from March.

March finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a team-best six RBIs. Fomby added two hits and drove in four runs whiles James finished 4-for-5 with two runs scored and pair of RBIs.
Drew Raspolich added three hits and knocked in two.

J.T. Oie picked up the win for Elmhurst in relief. Oie worked three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out three.

IIT 10, ELMHURST 3 – IIT jumped out to an early lead and held on for a 10-3 victory. The Scarlet Hawks scored three runs in the first and second innings and added another run in the third to jump in front 7-0.

The Bluejays answered back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third as March doubled in a pair of runs. IIT answered back with a pair of runs in the fifth to open up a 9-2 cushion. Fomby singles home a run in the seventh to cut into the deficit, but IIT scored a run in the eighth to make the final score 10-3.

Jonathan Mays collected two hits apiece for the Bluejays in the loss.
Jaysn Miller made the start and took the loss, surrendering seven hits and seven runs in two innings of work.
Elmhurst plays at IIT on Monday, March 14, at 3:30 p.m.
