Elmhurst Game Notes

The Elmhurst men's basketball team continues on in the 2022 NCAA Tournament by hosting Pomona-Pitzer in the second round of the NCAA Tournament today at 5:40 p.m. at R.A. Faganel Hall.. Get a preview of today's matchup and find out how to follow the action live below. 

THE MATCHUP
#16 Elmhurst (23-6) takes on Pomonoa-Pitzer  (22-4) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The winner of the contest will advance to the Sweet 16 round next weekend. The Bluejays and the Sagehens were scheduled to face each other in the Sweet 16 round of the 2020 NCAA DIvision III Championships before the contest was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, two years later, the two squads get their chance to square off. 

Elmhurst and Pomona-Pitzer both earned automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament this season. The Bluejays captured their second CCIW Tournament Championship in three years by defeating North Central College last Saturday (February 26). Pomona-PItzer defeated Chapman last Sunday (February 27) 76-71 to win the Southern California Intercollegiate Ahletic Conference's (SCIAC) automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Elmhurst is making its seventh NCAA Championship appearance and its fourth under head coach John Baines. Pomona-Pitzer is in its 14th NCAA Tournament overall. The Sagehens have been to 13 NCAA Touranments, including three straight under head coach Charles Katsiaficas.
