MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Elmhurst University men's lacrosse team won its sixth game in a row, defeating Rhodes College 8-6.
The Lynx jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening quarter, but a pair of goals by Elmhurst's
Parker O'Leary pulled the Bluejays to within one goal, 3-2, heading into the second.
Elmhurst (6-2) controlled the second quarter scoring four unanswered goals and holding the Lynx scoreless to head into halftime with a 6-3 advantage.
Rhodes (0-9) was able to tie the contest up at six apiece with 11:31 left to play, however, goals by
Ryan Swank and
Jake Grebe in the final 10 minutes secured the victory for the Bluejays.
The Bluejays were led by
Ben Luke, O'Leary and Grebe with a pair of goals each.
Chase Krolik added in one goal, while
Ryan Camarata,
Sante Dybowski and
Cullen Nordeman each tallied an assist.
Marcus Yandall finished with two assists in the win.
The Lynx were led by Drew Downes with two goals. Christian Cisneros dished out two assists, while Drew Litner finished with one assist and goal. Ryan Dancy, Conor Casey and Sammy Carter each scored one goal for Rhodes in the loss. Jake Gobel won 12-of-15 faceoff attempts and grabbed a team-high seven groundballs.
Rhodes goalkeeper, Brendan Roberts, collected 14 saves, while
Noah Mickelson earned the win for Elmhurst with 16 saves.
The Bluejays head to Milwaukee for a nonconference matchup against MSOE on Saturday, March 26 at 1:00 p.m.
