WHEATON, Ill. – The Elmhurst University football team fell 56-0 to #14 Wheaton College at McCully Stadium.
Giovanni Weeks scored the first two touchdowns for the Thunder with a 39-yard run and a 17-yard run. Wheaton's Matthew Tucker recorded the third touchdown of the opening quarter to take a dominant 20-0 lead.
Wheaton (3-2/3-1 CCIW) went on to score 36 points over the next three quarters to earn a homecoming win.
Elmhurst (0-5/0-4 CCIW) totaled six first downs, 46 rushing yards and 87 passing yards in 51 plays, while the Thunder totaled 29 first downs, 323 rushing yards and 184 passing yards in 76 plays in the contest.
Aidan Pollock led the way for the Bluejays rushing for 29 yards.
Michael Duckins added 22 rushing yards in only two attempts.
Connor Buyck completed 6-17 passes for 69 yards.
Bryce Gable finished with 13 tackles and one sack, while
Gino Cerrone and
Jeremy Inniss added in 10 and nine tackles respectively in the loss.
Ryan Brenner punted five times for 187 yards for the Bluejays, averaging 37.4 yards per punt.
Wheaton was led by Weeks who rushed for 119 yards with Jeremiah Tucker adding 76 rushing yards in four carries.
Jalen Shaffer finished with eight tackles and one interception, while Sam Bell added seven tackles in the win. Will Bowers completed 17-of-23 passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns for the Thunder.
The Bluejays return home for its next game on Saturday, October 15 to take on the Carroll University Pioneers at 6:00 p.m.
