ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's tennis team was defeated by Augustana 8-1, bringing their record to 6-5 and 0-5 in CCIW play.
The Bluejays' lone win came at No. 5 singles as
Brynn Rubacky defeated Madd Harned 3-6, 6-2, 10-3. Elmhurst lost a tight set at No. 3 doubles going to the tiebreaker between
Julia Kostadinova and
Megan Engstrom as they fell to Grace Rider and Mia Reese.
Silvia Barak fought hard at No. 6 singles losing the first set 7-6 and the second at 6-2.
At No. 1 doubles Augustana's Hannah Colbert and Lily Choeck earned the win over
Jolene Neuhalfen and
June Bering 8-1.
Brynn Rubacky and
Isabella Rahman teamed up at No. 2 doubles, but were defeated by Caitlyn Hanulikova and Natasha Gauerke. Augustana had decisive wins at No. 2 and No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-0 in matches between Caitlyn Hanulikova over
Julia Kostadinova and Hannah Colbert over
June Bering. At No. 1 singles
Jolene Neuhalfen fell to Lily Schoeck 6-2, 6-1. In the final singles match at No. 3 singles Michaela Magee overpowered
Isabella Rahman 6-0, 6-1.
Elmhurst hosts Illinois Wesleyan University in their next match on October 12
th at 3:00pm.
