ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's tennis team defeated the Illinois Wesleyan University at the Brune Tennis Courts for the Bluejays' first conference win of the season with an 8-1 victory.
Elmhurst (7-5, CCIW 1-5) swept the three doubles matches and took five of the six singles contests in the victory over Illinois Wesleyan (0-8, CCIW 0-7).
In doubles play, the Bluejays' No. 1 pairing of
Jolene Neuhalfen and June Bering defeated Kate Christian and Raji More 8-2. At No. 2, the Bluejays' duo of Julia Kostidnova and
Isabella Rahman defeated Macy Michorczyk and Andie Wilson 8-0. The Bluejays' No. 3 duo of
Brynn Rubacky and
Megan Engstrom also won their match 8-0.
In singles play,
Silvia Barak won at No. 5 against Marianna Arias 6-0, 6-0. No. 6 Engstrom also had clean sheets with 6-0, 6-0 victories over Ice Nie. No. 1 Neuhalfen defeated Christian 6-0, 6-2, while Kostidnova earned the 6-1, 6-0 match over More at No. 2 doubles. The final win for the Bluejays was at No. 3 singles with Bering taking the match 6-0, 6-2 over Michorczyk.
The Titans won a tiebreak set at No. 4 between Rubacky and Wilson. Wilson took the final set 10-8, after the split of the first two sets 2-6, 6-3.

th.
