ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's tennis team is defeated by Carroll 9-0 to complete the CCIW regular season.
No. 2 doubles was a tight match with Carroll's (7-5, CCIW 3-5) Aalaiya Jacklin and Sophia Dekker securing the win 8-5 over
Brynn Rubacky and
Silvia Barak. At No. 1 doubles the Bluejays (7-6, CCIW 1-6)
Jolene Neuhalfen and
June Bering fell to Ashley Labelle and Grace Krueger 8-1. The final doubles match had Carroll Maya Gaedtke and Madison Ostrander made quick work of
Julia Kostadinova and
Megan Engstrom 8-0.
No. 6 singles went to a third set tiebreak with Carrol's Ostrander outlasting Barak 7-5, 1-6, 10-4. No. 1 Neuhalfen lost 3-6, 5-7 to Krueger, while Kostadinova fell to Labelle at No. 2 singles 0-6, 5-7. No. 3 singles saw
Isabella Rahman dropped two sets to Dekker 6-0, 6-4. Gaedtke played No. 4 singles and defeated Bering 6-2, 6-1, while the final singles match saw Rubacky fall to Aalaiya Jacklin 6-0, 6-1.
Elmhurst finished fall matches and will return to action in the spring.
