WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Elmhurst University women's track and field team placed fifth at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Squigs Invitational.
The Bluejays totaled 40 points to finish fifth out of 10 squads.
Elmhurst totaled eight points in the mile run with a pair of top-eight finishes.
Alyssa Rafuse placed fourth in the race in 5:30.95 while
Lauren Mack finished sixth in 5:40.14.
Emily Gilligan added a fifth-place finish in the 3,000 meters, completing the race in 10:35.26.
Mercado and Nadeau combined to score 11 points in the 60 meter hurdles. Mercado placed third in 9.44 seconds while Nadeau was right behind in 9.52 seconds, placing fourth in the process.
Elmhurst's 4x400 squad of
Ava David,
Edith Mercado, Sadie Hartman and
Nakala Nadeau scored two team points by placing seventh in 4:21.67.
Huda Hussaini placed ninth in the 60 meter dash, finishing the race in 8.22 seconds. Hussaini added a top-10 finish in the 200 meters, finishing in 26.90 seconds.
Esther Brown placed 10th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:33.30.
Stefania Camaci and
Sarah Stephens both scored top-10 finishes in the high jump. Camaci cleared a heigh of 1.48 meters on her first attempt to tie for fifth place. Stephens cleared 1.48 meters on her third attempt to finish in ninth place.
Amanda Lams and
Francesca Scarabaggio both earned top-10 finishes in the long jump. Lams used an opening jump of 5.37 meters to place third overall. Scarabaggio finished ninth after jumping to a distance of 5.06 meters. Lams added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 10.85 meters.
Erin Matthias added a ninth-place finish in the triple jump in 9.85 meters.
