Volleyball Team Wins Pair at Benedictine

LISLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst volleyball team upped its winning streak to four after sweeping Benedictine University and Lake Forest College at the Benedictine Triangular. 

ELMHURST 3, BENEDICTINE 0 - Elmhurst (5-6) opened the day by taking out the host Eagles 26-24, 26-22, 25-21. 

The Bluejays never trailed in either of the opening two sets despite the score being close. The Bluejays finished the third set at 25-21 to complete the sweep.

Elmhurst hit .175 for the contest with 40 kills and 18 errors in 126 swings. Taylor Zurliene powered Elmhurst in the win with a game-high 13 kills and 22 digs. Emily Duis added seven kills and four blocks while Jada Wiley chipped in with seven kills and three blocks. Erin Murray added 23 assists while Valerie Thomas totaled a team-leading 14 digs. 

Benedictine finished with 36 kills and 18 errors. Caroline O'Connor paced the Eagles with 12 kills while Courtney Levy finished with 15 digs. 

ELMHURST 3, LAKE FOREST 0 -  The Bluejays made it four straight victories by dispatching Lake Forest College 25-16, 26-16, 25-20. 

Elmhurst hit .268 with 44 kills and 14 errors in 112 attempts. Zurliene led the way for a second-straight match with 14 kills and seven digs. Elise Rossing added nine kills while Katelyn Bower chipped in with eight kills. Wiley finished with seven kills for the Bluejays. Kellyn Kennedy led the Bluejays in assists with 38. Thomas totaled 18 digs in the win for the Bluejays.

Lake Forest finished with 26 kills and 17 errors in 99 attempts. Mary Gegen led Lake Forest with 13 kills and six digs. 

Elmhurst hosts Augustana College on Wednesday, September 29.
