ELMHURST, Ill. – Elmhurst University has announced that Glen Brittich will serve as the school's Interim Director of Athletics. Brittich has served as Elmhurst's Assistant Director of Athletics since March of 2019.

Brittich was named interim director after Wendy McManus announced her resignation to take a position as Athletic Director at SUNY-Oswego.

"Glen Brittich has been a part of the athletic leadership team for over two years now and I am confident in his ability to step in and continue to lead the Elmhurst athletic department in a positive direction," said Elmhurst University Vice President for Student Affairs Phil Riordan. "I'd also like to thank Wendy McManus for all of her contributions to and we wish her well in her new endeavors."

As Elmhurst's Assistant Director of Athletics, Brittich tackled multiple roles for the Bluejays. He was responsible for the internal operations of the athletic department and managed the Bluejays' gameday operations. In addition to serving as the department's compliance officer, he also had direct supervision of multiple Elmhurst teams. In 2020, Brittich was selected as one of 20 participants to the NCAA's Pathway Program, the NCAA's premier leadership develop program for athletic administrators.

"I am very grateful for being asked to lead our department through this time," said Brittich. "We have had a great deal of positive momentum under the leadership of Wendy McManus and we will work tirelessly to continue to create a great experience for our student-athletes."

Prior to being named the Bluejays' Assistant Director of Athletics, Brittich spent six years as an assistant coach with the Elmhurst football team. He worked as the team's defensive coordinator for five years and served as the team's assistant head coach for one season. In addition to Elmhurst, Brittich had coaching stops at Hope College, Carthage College, Eastern Michigan University, Grand Valley State University and Adams State College.

A 2004 graduate of Albion College, Brittich was a four-year starter and two-time first-team all-conference selection for the Britons and was named the MIAA's Defensive MVP in 2003. He was inducted into Albion's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019. He earned his master's degree from Adams State.

Brittich and his wife, Abby, currently reside in Carol Stream with their daughters Jenna and Brianna.
