NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Elmhurst University baseball team totaled 19 hits while ripping Illinois Wesleyan University 15-3 to stay alive in the CCIW Tournament.

Elmhurst (18-24) jumped out to an early lead, scoring five runs in the top of the first after sending 10 batters to the plate.
Troy Taller started the scoring with a two-run single.
Zachary Mietzner and
Paul Fomby added RBI singles and
Charlie May also knocked in a run to stake the Bluejays to a five-run cushion.

Illinois Wesleyan answered back with two runs on a Dom DiLello two-run single in the bottom of the first to close to within three. Elmhurst responded with three runs in the top of the second. Taller doubled home a run while Mietzner added an RBI single. A sacrifice fly from Fomby gave Elmhurst an 8-2 lead.

The Bluejays blew the game wide open in the fourth, scoring five times to take a 13-2 lead.
Lorenzo Farino singled home a run to start the scoring. Fomby bashed a three-run homer to right extend Elmhurst's lead to 12-2.
Tyler Kledzik tacked on an RBI single to make the score 13-2 after four innings.

A sacrifice fly from Fomby and an RBI single from
Kevin Johlie in the top of the fifth accounted for the Bluejays' final two runs. The Titans scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to make the final score 15-3 in seven innings.

Every Elmhurst starting position player finished with at least one hit in the victory. Fomby finished 2-for-3 with a team-leading six RBIs. Taller was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with four runs scored and three driven in. Farino finished 3-for-4 with four runs scored and an RBI while
Trey Romay collected three hits and scored three runs.

Jaysn Miller made the start for the Bluejays and worked four innings, allowing just three hits and two runs. He walked two and fanned two.
Andrew Schellhorn earned the win in relief, tossing two innings and allowing just two hits and one run. He walked one and struck out one.

Elmhurst will face top-seeded North Central College tomorrow (May 21) in an elimination game after the Cardinals fell 11-6 in 10 innings to Carroll. Elmhurst and North Central will square off at Wheaton College's Legion Field at 11:00 a.m.
