Bluejays Edged By North Central 14-13

NAPERVILLE- The Elmhurst University men's lacrosse squad was edged by North Central College 14-13 on the road.

Elmhurst got off to a hot start in the first quarter, taking a 5-2 lead over North Central. After Ben Luke's second goal with 11 seconds left in the second quarter, the Bluejays led the Cardinals 9-5 at halftime.

Elmhurst edged North Central 3-2 after a back-and-forth third quarter and held a 12-7 lead headed into the fourth quarter. The Cardinals took control in the fourth quarter, ripping off a 5-0 run and winning six straight face-offs. After Jake Grebe scored with three minutes left in the game, North Central won two more face-offs and scored two more goals to turn a one-goal Elmhurst lead in to a 14-13 advantage with 90 seconds left to play. After securing the final face-off the Cardinals took a timeout with 17 seconds left and ran out the clock to capture the 14-13 victory.

Luke and Jake Grebe scored three goals apiece on the afternoon to lead Elmhurst. Cullen Nordeman and Sante Dybowski each posted two goals and two assists. Andrew Frerich recorded one goal and dished out three assists of his own. Jacob Delgado recorded 10 saves while allowing 14 goals on the day.

North Central was led by Tom Eberhardt's six goals and Riley Backinski posted five goals of his own. Jack Moran recorded four points, two goals and two assists on the afternoon. Scott Allgood scored one goal and added four assists in the Cardinals victory. Jake Allgood totaled 10 saves while allowing 13 goals on the afternoon.
