BLOOMINGTON, ILL. – The Elmhurst men's lacrosse squad fell to Illinois Wesleyan 23-7 in the CCIW tournament semifinals.
The Titans started off hot, ripping off a 4-0 run in the first five minutes of the game. After an Elmhurst timeout
Ben Luke scored a man-up goal to put the Bluejays on the board. Illinois Wesleyan continued to win face-offs and led Elmhurst 9-2 at the end of the first quarter. The Bluejays responded by going on a 3-0 run to start the second quarter (9-4). After seven turnovers in the second quarter the Titans scored three goals to lead the Bluejays 12-6 at the end of the first half.
Illinois Wesleyan regained their momentum by scoring four goals and shutting out Elmhurst in the third quarter (16-6). The Titans scored seven more goals in the fourth quarter to defeat the Bluejays 23-7 and move onto the CCIW Championship game.
Elmhurst was led by
Marcus Yandall's two goals on the night. Luke and
Ben Berke each scored a goal while adding an assist. Three other Bluejays each had a goal while
Ryan Camarata led the defense with three caused turnovers. Jacob Delgado made 23 saves while allowing 23 goals on the night.
Illinois Wesleyan was led by Carson Kiichle's five points, four goals and one assist. Rick Smith recorded five points as well, totaling three goals and two assists. Griffin DeMilt added four goals of his own while Conner Kiichle recorded two goals and one assist. Will Harris made 11 saves while allowing seven goals on the night.
