WAUKESHA, WIS. – The Elmhurst men's lacrosse team improved to 3-2 in the CCIW after defeating Carroll University 24-3 on the road.
The Bluejays (10-4) were led by
Ben Berke's four goals and
Ben Luke's three goals to take a commanding 10-0 lead in the first quarter.
Marcus Yandall scored three unassisted goals in the first two minutes of the second quarter to extend the Bluejays' lead. Elmhurst was leading 16-0 in the second quarter when the Pioneers (0-5) scored their first goal of the game.
Ethan Stepanek scored with eight seconds left in the half, extending the Bluejays' lead to 19-1.
In the third quarter Chandler Foerester scored the first goal of his career to start a 4-0 run for the Bluejays. Carroll scored its second goal to trail the Bluejays 22-2 with just over four minutes left in the third quarter. After two Elmhurst goals at the end of the third quarter the Pioneers scored the only goal of the fourth quarter to make the finals score 24-3.
Elmhurst was led by Berke's seven points on the afternoon. Luke and Yandall recorded five points each. Grebe and Dybowski posted four points each while three different Bluejays each totaled three points in the victory.
Jake Delgado posted a shutout with three saves.
Noah Mickelson took over in net, making three saves of his own while allowing two goals.
Justin Nguyen allowed one goal and made two saves in the fourth quarter.
The Pioneers were led by Danny McGee's two goals on the day. Zach Mehrtens scored the Pioneers other goal. Abe Escarda recorded 17 saves and allowed 24 goals in the loss.
