Romay's Homer Leads Bluejays To Walk-Off Win Over Stars

ELMHURST, Ill. – Trey Romay blasted a solo homer in the 10th inning to lift the Elmhurst University baseball team to a 6-5 win over Dominican University at Butterfield Park.

Elmhurst (14-17) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first after Paul Fomby singled home a run and a Dominican (8-21) error led to an unearned run. Dominican scored a run in the fourth and tied the game with a run in the fifth.

Elmhurst jumped back in front in the seventh, taking a 5-2 lead after scoring three times. Drew Raspolich drove in a run on a sacrifice fly and Zachary Hafner roped a two-run double to right center to put the Bluejays in front 5-2.

Dominican loaded the bases with one out in the eighth, but the Stars were limited to just one run on a sacrifice fly. The Stars pulled even in the top of the ninth, scoring a run on a ground out and another on a sacrifice fly.

In extra innings, Dominican loaded the bases in the top of the 10th but came up empty. With one out in the bottom of the inning, Romay crushed a line-drive homer to left field to give the Bluejays the walk-off 6-5 victory.

Hafner and Farino combined for seven of the Bluejays' 13 hits in the victory. Hafner finished 4-for-5 with two RBIs while Farino had a 3-for-5 day and scored a run.

Jay Palmer made the start for the Bluejays and took a no-decision. Palmer worked six innings, allowing nine hits and two runs. He walked two and struck out three. J.T. Oie earned the win in relief, tossing the final inning and not allowing a run or a hit and working around a pair of walks.
