CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team shutout North Park University 9-0 to records its second CCIW victory of the season.
Elmhurst (2-7/2-6 CCIW) swept all three doubles matches and the six singles contests while taking the victory. North Park slipped to 0-8/0-7 CCIW with the loss.
Julia Kostadinova and Isabella Rahmn opened doubles play with an 8-3 win at No. 1 over Lisa Viuhkonen and Hannah Rosenbaum. The Bluejays' No. 2 duo of
Megan Engstrom and
June Bering defeated Emma Trais and Acacia Doughty 8-2. The Bluejays' pair of
Morgan Bilancia and
Bailey Ekstrand received a forfeit at No. 3.
In singles play, Kostadinova scored a 6-3, 6-3 win over Viuhkonen at No. 1 while Bilancia followed with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Rosenbaum at No. 2. Rahman dispatched Trais 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 while Ekstrand stopped Doughty 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4. Bering and Engstrom received forfeit wins at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
Elmhurst plays at Wheaton College on Thursday, April 22.
