ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst University baseball team suffered a 15-8 setback at the hands of North Central College at Butterfield Park.

Elmhurst fell to 11-11 overall and 7-9 in the CCIW with the loss. North Central improved to 13-5 overall and 10-3 in the CCIW with the victory.

The Cardinals jumped out in front with two runs in the second when Luke Gregorio knocked in a pair.

The Cardinals broke things open in the fifth, scoring five times on seven hits. Dom Listi started the scoring with a two-run homer and Joe Rizzo added a two-run double in the Cardinals' big inning.

Elmhurst put its first runs of the game on the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh, scoring four times to cut the Cardinals' lead down to three. With one out and two on,
Kevin Johlie walked to load the bases.
Freddie March delivered a two-run, pinch hit single to give Elmhurst it's first runs of the contest.
Tyler Kledzik and
Trey Romay added RBI singles in the inning to cap the Bluejays' inning.

North Central took two runs back in the eight as Gregorio delivered a two-run single to put the Cardinals in front 9-4. Elmhurst cut the deficit to four in the bottom of the eight when Johlie singled to drive in
Troy Taller.

North Central put the game away in the top of the ninth, scoring five times to open up a 14-5 lead.

Paul Fomby cracked a three-run homer to right field for the Bluejays in the ninth to make the final score 14-8.

Fomby drove in a team-high three runs while Kledzik led the team with three hits. Romay added a pair of hits and an RBI in the loss.

Alex Kielion took the loss from the mound for the Bluejays. Kielion worked five innings and allowed 12 hits and seven runs. He walked one and struck out four. Luke Lamm picked up the win for the Cardinals, throwing six innings and allowing just three hits and two runs. He walked two and fanned nine.
