Bluejays Remain Undefeated at Langhorst

ELMHURST, ILL. – The Elmhurst University men's lacrosse team defeated Augustana College 16-10 in its first conference matchup of the 2021 season.

In the first quarter, Augustana (4-4) struck first just 30 seconds into the game and recorded 14 shots to Elmhurst's' (8-2) nine. Ben Luke scored his second goal with only five seconds let in the first quarter to bring the Bluejays within one (4-3). Elmhurst ripped off a 6-0 run to build a 10-6 lead before the Vikings scored with 22 seconds left in the first half (10-7).

After Augustana's face-off specialist scored off the opening face-off, the Bluejays went on a 4-0 run in the third quarter. Cullen Nordeman added two goals to help build the 15-9 lead. The Bluejays' defense was led by Trent Nyberg and only allowed Augustana to score three goals in the second half. Marcus Yandall recorded a hattrick by scoring with three minutes left in the game and securing the Bluejays 16-10 victory.

Elmhurst was led by Andrew Frerich's four goals off five shots. Luke also recorded four goals on the afternoon. Yandall posted three goals and two assists while Nordeman recorded three goals and one assist of his own. Ben Berke added four points on the day, scoring a goal and dishing out three assists. Jake Delgado had an impressive day, recording 15 saves while allowing 10 goals.

Augustana's Trevor Moore led the Vikings with two goals and one assist. John Calabrese and Jack Preston added two goals each on the afternoon. Four of the Vikings each recorded a goal in the 16-10 loss. Cameron Duffy made eight saves while allowing 16 goals on the day.
