ELMHURST, ILL. – The Elmhurst men's lacrosse team fell to Transylvania University 9-8 in an overtime loss on the road.

Marcus Yandall scored a minute into the game and recorded two goals and one assist in the opening quarter. The Pioneers (6-2) responded and edged the Bluejays (6-2) 4-3 before the end of the first quarter. Elmhurst scored three straight goals in the second quarter to take a 6-5 lead before the end of the first half.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Pioneers scored in the first minute of the fourth quarter to tie the game up 6-6. The Bluejays responded with two goals to take the 8-6 lead with six minutes left in the game. Transylvania answered and tied the game up 8-8 a few minutes before the end of regulation. After the Pioneers gained possession and called a time out, they scored to secure the OT victory 9-8.

Elmhurst was led by Yandall's five points on four goals and one assist. Ben Luke recorded two goals and two assists on the day. Andrew Frerich added one goal and one assist for the Bluejays.

Transylvania was led by Bryce Lowe's three goals and Andrew Hamill's two goals on the day. Four Pioneers added a goal each on the afternoon.

Game Notes

• The Pioneers won 14 out of the 20 faceoffs.
• Elmhurst was edged by Transylvania in ground balls 28-24.
• The Bluejays had 19 turnovers while Pioneers totaled 21.

The Bluejays will travel to Indianapolis, Ind. to take on Hanover College on Saturday, April 3, 2021.
