LAKE BLUFF, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's tennis team opened its season with a 9-0 loss at the hands of Lake Forest College at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.
Lake Forest (2-1) swept the three doubles matches to start the day. Julie Lord and Tyranny Miller stopped the Bluejays' duo of
Julia Kostadinova and
Bailey Ekstrand 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. Emma Wang and Margaret Bugnacki defeated the Bluejays' paif of
Megan Engstrom and
Morgan Bilancia 8-1 at No. 2. MJ Campos and Grace Gould blanked
June Bering and
Isabella Rahman 8-0 at No. 3.
Lake Forest finished the sweep by taking all six singles matches. Lord upended Kostaadinova 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 followed by Campos stopping Ekstrand 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2. Wang defeated Bering 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 while Miller upended Bilancia 6-1, 7-5. Bugnacki blanked Engstrom 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 while Natalia Leite scored a 6-1, 6-0 win over Rahman at No. 6 singles.
Elmhurst hosts Carroll University this Saturday, March 27.
