Bluejays Top Falcons 16-12

ELMHURST, ILL. – The Elmhurst University men's lacrosse squad defeated Concordia University (Wis.) 16-12 on Langhorst Field.

In the first quarter the Falcons (2-3) edged the Bluejays (6-1) 4-3 to take an early lead. Cullen Nordeman recorded a hattrick by the 8:00 minute mark in the second quarter and helped Elmhurst regain the lead at 8-7 before the end of the first half.

In the first four minutes of the third quarter, Ben Luke ripped off three goals in a row to extend the Bluejays' lead to 11-7. After another goal from Sante Dybowski two minutes later, the Falcons scored three straight goals to cut the Bluejays' lead to 12-10 at the end of the third quarter. Luke scored two more goals in the first four minutes of the fourth quarter to put Elmhurst ahead 14-10. After a response from Concordia, Andrew Frerich and Marcus Yandall both scored a goal with just under five minutes left to seal the Elmhurst victory 16-12.

Elmhurst was led by Luke's seven points on six goals and one assist. Nordeman added five points on four goals and one assist. Frerich also recorded five points, totaling three goals and two assists. Dybowski's two goals and Yandall's three points capped off the Bluejay victory. Jake Delgado finished with 11 saves while allowing 12 goals in net for Elmhurst.

Keijo Day and Taitum Priewe totaled three goals apiece and combined for nine points to lead Concordia. Ryan Lefebvre dished out four assists on the night while Donovan Harper and Conor Peterson finished with two goals each. Alex Loding made eight saves while allowing 12 goals and Adam Nichols allowed four goals while making four saves.

  • Concordia edged Elmhurst at the faceoff "x" 17-14.
  • The Falcons recorded 22 ground balls to the Bluejays' 19.
  • Elmhurst totaled 57 shots while Concordia finished with 38.
  • The Falcons posted 16 turnovers while the Bluejays only totaled 12 on the night.
