NORMAL, Ill. – The Elmhurst University baseball team upped its record to 4-2 on the season after defeating Rockford University and Eureka College.

Elmhurst toppled Rockford 5-2 in a 13-inning marathon before defeating Eureka 8-3.

ELMHURST 5, ROCKFORD 2 – Elmhurst scored three runs in the top of the 14th to topple Rockford in a marathon contest.

Trailing 1-0 in the eighth the Bluejays took advantage of a passed ball to tie the game on a
Paul Fomby sacrifice fly.

The Bluejays moved in front in the 11th, scoring on a
Freddie March RBI single. Rockford evened the score in the bottom of the 11th.
Trey Romay delivered the game-winning hit in the 13th, doubling in a pair of runs to put the Bluejays in front for good.

Alex Kielion worked 10.2 innings and took a no-decision. He scattered eight hits and just one earned run. He walked one while striking out nine.
Cole Bozzi picked up the win in relief, tossing the final 1.1 innings while not allowing a base runner.
Nathaniel Jones bridged the gap between Kielion and Bozzi, working 2.0 scoreless innings and allowing just one hit while striking out one.

ELMHURST 8, EUREKA 3 - Elmhurst ended the day unbeaten after stopping Eureka 8-3 in a game that finished well after 11:00 p.m.

Eureka scored a run in the top of the first, but the Bluejays answered back after
Carter Truong stole third and scored on a throwing error. Elmhurst moved in front in the second after
Zachary Mietzner scored on a wild pitch.
Carter Truong singled home a run in the fourth to put the Bluejays up 3-1. After Eureka scored a run in the fifth to pull to within a run, Mietzner knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly in to put the Bluejays back up by two at 4-2.

The Red Devils scored in the eighth to pull to within a run, but the Bluejays put the game away with four runs in the bottom of the eighth thanks to a two-run single from Romay and a two-run double from Fomby.
Romay finished 3-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Charlie May and Troung finished with two hits apiece.

Joseph Kalish made the start and earned the win for Elmhurst, tossing 5.1 innings and allowing just five hits and two runs. He walked three and fanned six. Bozzi picked up the save in relief, recording the final four outs while allowing just one hit and a walk and striking out one.
Elmhurst plays at Carthage College on Tuesday, March 16.Â
