NORMAL, Ill. – The Elmhurst University baseball team moved to 2-2 on the season after splitting games with Eureka College and Rockford University. Elmhurst fell 7-4 to Eureka before bouncing back to upend Rockford 8-5.

EUREKA 7, ELMHURST 4 – Eureka scored three runs in the fifth and added a pair in the eighth to break a 2-2 tie and earn a 7-4 win over the Bluejays.

Elmhurst jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a
Trey Romay RBI double in the first. Eureka answered back with two runs in the bottom of the inning to move in front.
Drew Raspolich singled home
Tyler Kledzik in the third to knot the score at 2-2.

A two-run double from Karter Hostetler sparked a three-run Red Devils' fifth inning. The Bluejays cut the deficit down to one in the seventh inning on a two-run homer from Romay, but Eureka scored two runs in the bottom of the eight to pull away for the 7-4 win.

Elmhurst stranded 11 runners in the contest, including leaving the bases loaded on two occasions.

Kledzik finished with three hits and three runs scored while Romay drove in three runs for the Bluejays.
Kevin Johlie added two hits for Elmhurst.

Jay Palmer made the start and took the loss, working 4.1 innings and allowing seven hits and five runs. He walked three and struck out two.

ELMHURST 8, ROCKFORD 5 – Elmhurst used a six-run fifth inning to get past Rockford 8-5 in the night cap.

Trailing 3-0 after three innings, Elmhurst scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth on another two-run shot from Romay. The Bluejays broke through in the sixth, sending 12 batters to the plate and scoring six times.
Paul Fomby and
Lorenzo Farino both had two-run singles in the inning. Eureka scored two runs in the top of the eight to make the final score 8-5.

Jaysn Miller made the start and earned the win for Elmhurst, tossing seven innings and allowing jusdt six hits and three runs. He walked two and struck out nine.

Elmhurst will face Rockford and Eureka tomorrow (March 13).
