STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Elmhurst volleyball team closed out its trip to the UW-Stevens Point Tournament by splitting a pair of contests. Elmhurst toppled Ripon College 3-1 before falling 3-1 to Concordia University (Wis.).

Elmhurst moved to 2-5 on the season with the split.

ELMHURST 3, RIPON 1 – Elmhurst snapped a three-game slide with a 25-12, 18-25, 25-19, 25-22 win over Ripon College.

The Bluejays never trailed in the opening set, coasting to the 13-point win. Ripon bounced back in the second, breaking a 10-10 tie by closing the set with a 15-8 run. Elmhurst raced out to a 10-2 lead in the third and never looked, building a 2-1 lead. The fourth set was even at 20-all, but Elmhurst closed the match with a 5-2 run.

Elmhurst hit .167 for the match with 52 kills and 27 errors in 150 swings.
Kayla Mast led the way for Elmhurst with 13 kills and five digs.
Bailey Brouwer added nine kills while
Payton Froats and
Ellie Burzlaff finished with eight kills apiece.
Hannah Horn totaled a team-leading 25 assists while
Emily Finkbeiner finished with 15.
Valerie Thomas led the Bluejays' defense with a match-high 28 digs.

CONCORDIA 3, ELMHURST 1 – Elmhurst slid to 2-5 on the season following a 25-18, 16-25, 19-25, 20-25 loss to Concordia University (Wis.).

Elmhurst broke a 12-12 tie in the opening set with a 13-6 closing run to jump out to an early lead. Concordia answered back with a 25-16 win in the second and the Falcons moved in front 2-1 after taking the third set 25-20. The Falcons finished off the match with a 25-20 win in the fourth set.

Elmhurst hit .138 with 41 kills and 20 errors. Concordia finished the match hitting .253 with 55 kills and 17 errors.

Brouwer paced Elmhurst's offense with 10 kills while Mast finished with eight kills and 15 digs. Froats and Burzlaff notched seven kills apiece.
Taylor Zurliene finished with six kills and 15 digs while Thomas and 11 digs. Finkbeiner totaled 16 assists and 12 digs while Horn tallied with 15 digs.

Elmhurst plays at the DePauw University Invitational next weekend (September 13-14).
