ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Roosevelt University in the Bluejays' home-opening contest of the season.
Roosevelt (1-0) swept all six singles matches and the three doubles matches to earn the win.
In doubles play, Gina Odiso and Maria Rivas toppled Elmhurst's
Ysabel Gonzaga and
Nina Pasquini 8-0 at No. 1 doubles. Grace Hahn and Jasmine Abunaim narrowly edged
Bailey Ekstrand and
Dacey Maglaque 8-6 at No. 2. Kyla Eaton and Amy Eftimoff slipped past Elmhurst's
June Bering and
Silvia Barak 8-7 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Odisho upended Gonazaga 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 while Hahn defeated Pasquini 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2. Rivas defeated Ekstrand 6-0, 7-6 at No. 3. Eaton narrowly toppled Maglaque 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 at No. 4. Abunaim downed Silvia 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 while Ava Collins stopped
Lindsey McAuliffe 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6.Â
