ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst baseball team banged out 13 hits, but came up short in 12-6 loss to Augustana College at Butterfield Park.
Elmhurst slipped to 8-14 overall and 2-7 in the CCIW with the loss while Augustana upped its record to 17-5 overall and 6-1 in league play.

Elmhurst outhit Augustana 13-7 in the contest, but the Bluejays were hurt by pitching wildness and four errors.

The Vikings scored in every inning except the fourth, but Elmhurst kept the came close, trailing only by two after seven innings. The Vikings scored the final four runs of the game to pull away for the win.

Augustana scored an unearned run in the first and added another in the second to take an early 2-0 lead. Elmhurst cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second on
Drew Raspolich's RBI single. After the Vikings scored three in the third,
Tyler Kledzik belted a two-run solo homer in the bottom of the third to make the score 5-2. Augustana scored a run in the fifth and sixth to extend its lead to 7-2, but a run-scoring double from Kledzin and an RBI single from
Jordan Scrimpsher pulled Elmhurst to within three runs at 7-4.

The Vikings tacked on another run in the seventh before Elmhurst responded with two courtesy of a
Jacob McMillan single and a sacrifice fly from Kledzik. Augustana put the game away late with two runs in the eighth and a pair in the ninth.

McMillan recorded three of Elmhurst's 13 hits in the loss while Kledzik finished two hits and three RBIs. Gunnar Haskins led the Vikings at the plate, finishing 3-for-5 with two homers and five driven in.

Elmhurst pitchers combined to walk 12 batters, hit three batters and throw five wild pitches.
Noah Jordan made the start and took the loss for the Bluejays. Chris Refka worked six innings for Augustana to earn the victory.
