ELMHURST, Ill. –
Jordan Scrimpsher hit a pair of home runs but the Elmhurst baseball team fell in both ends of a doubleheader to North Central College. The Bluejays dropped game one 11-7 before falling 12-6 in the night cap.

NORTH CENTRAL 11, ELMHURST 7 (Game One) – Elmhurst led 7-5 after seven innings, but North Central scored six runs over the final two frames to rally for an 11-7 win in game one.

The Cardinals jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after scoring twice in the first and adding another run in the third.

Elmhurst tied the game in the bottom of the fourth on
Jordan Scrimpsher's three-run homer to left field. North Central used a run in the fifth and another in sixth to move back in front at 5-3, but a
Paul Fomby RBI single and a North Central error allowed the Bluejays to pull even in the bottom of the sixth.
Scrimpsher smashed his second homer of the game, a two-run shot, in the seventh to put Elmhurst in front for the first time all day.

Things fell apart for the Bluejays in the eighth. With two outs and one on, Rob Marinec smacked a two-run homer to tie the game at 7-7. A walk followed by four consecutive hit batter forced in two runs to put North Central up 9-7. John Carmody tacked on two insurance runs for North Central with a two-run homer in the ninth.

Scrimpsher led Elmhurst at the plate with two hits and five RBIs.
Trey Compton,
Chad Tucker and
Colin Winston finished with two hits apiece in the loss. Marinec led the Cardinals with four hits and three RBIs.

Alex Kielion made the start and took a no-decision, throwing 5.1 innings and allowing nine hits and four earned runs.
Fred Birr took the loss in relief, working 2.1 innings and surrendering five hits and three runs.

NORTH CENTRAL 12, ELMHURST 6 (Game Two) – North Central raced out to a 7-2 lead after four innings before finishing the sweep with a 12-6 win.

The Cardinals scored four in the second, two in the third and another run in the fourth to jump out to a 7-2 lead after four frames. NCC tacked on another run in the top of the sixth, before Elmhurst answered back with four runs.
Chad Tucker singled home two runs in the sixth to start Elmhurst's scoring.
Karson Thomas came home to score on a wild pitch and
Lorenzo Farino added an RBI single to bring Elmhurst to within two runs at 8-6. The Cardinals tacked on two insurance runs in the seventh and two in the ninth to pull away for the 12-6 win.

Drew Raspolich recorded three of Elmhurst's 12 hits on the day. Farino and Fomby added two hits apiece for the Bluejays. Tucker and Farino each drove in two runs in the loss.

Scrimpsher took the loss for the Bluejays, working two innings and allowing two hits, two walks and three runs while striking out one. Charlie Klemm picked up the win for the Cardinals, working five innings and allowing seven hits and two earned runs. He struck out eight and did not issue a walk.

SCHEDULE CHANGE
Due to snow and rain in the forecast for tomorrow, Elmhurst and North Central have postponed their final game of the three-game series to Monday, April 15, at 3:00 p.m.
