DECATUR, Ill. – The Elmhurst baseball team was limited to only five hits by Millikin's Connor Gross as the Big Blue scored an 11-1 win over the Bluejays.
 
Millikin (17-15, 11-8) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after scoring a run in the first and two in the second. Elmhurst (9-21, 3-13 CCIW) scored its only run of the contest in the fourth inning. Tyler Kledzik drew a one out walk and moved to third on Jordan Scrimpsher's double. Kledzik came home to score on a balk by Gross.
 
The Big Blue broke things open in the middle innings, scoring two in the fifth and three runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to score the 11-1 win in seven innings.
 
Brent Beals led Millikin with three hits while Mason Bruce knocked in three for the Big Blue.
 
Gross went the distance for the Big Blue, working seven innings and allowing just five hits and one earned run. He walked two and struck out seven. Fred Birr made the start for the Bluejays and took the loss. Birr worked 4.1 innings and allowed six hits and five runs. He walked three and fanned four.
