ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst baseball team dipped to 2-3 in CCIW play after dropping both ends of a doubleheader to Millikin University. Elmhurst fell 11-3 in game one before dropping the night cap 24-0.

MILLIKIN 11, ELMHURST 3 (Game One) – Millikin scored seven runs over the final two innings to turn a one-run game into an 11-3 victory for the Big Blue.

Elmhurst grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second on a
Trevor Horwath sacrifice fly. The Bluejays carried the lead into the fifth when Millikin tied the game on a Jake Stanton single. The Big Blue moved in front one batter later as Andrew Auton cracked a two-run home to center to make the score 3-1.
Elmhurst pulled to within a run in the sixth as a Big Blue error allowed
Tyler Kledzik to score. Millikin pushed its lead back to two with a run in the top of the seventh, but Kledzik delivered a two-out single to drive in Horwath and bring Elmhurst to within a run at 4-3.

Millikin scored twice in the eighth, including a Jon Walters solo blast to left field, to make the score 6-3. The Big Blue blew things open in the top of the ninth, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring five times to pull away for the 11-3 victory.

Kledzik recorded two of Elmhurst's seven hits in the loss.

Noah Jordan made the start and took the loss for Elmhurst, allowing five hits and three runs over 5.1 innings of work. He walked two and fanned seven. Evan Lawrence earned the win for Millikin, working six innings and allowing four hits and two runs. He walked three and struck out three.

MILLIKIN 24, ELMHURST 0 (Game Two) –  Millikin scored early and often, using big innings in the third and fifth to cruise to a 24-0 win in game two.

The Big Blue grabbed a quick lead in the second on a Kyle Kane two-out RBI double. The Big Blue blew things open in the third, sending 13 batters to the plate and scoring eight times to take a 9-0 lead. Millikin tacked on two runs in the fourth and then scored nine times in the fifth inning to extend their lead to 20-0. The Big Blue tacked on four more in the sixth to make the final score 24-0.

Kane led Millikin at the plate, finishing 6-for-6 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Jon Walters and Mason Bruce drove in five runs apiece for the Big Blue.
Elmhurst was limited to just four hits by a total of four Millikin Pitchers. Derek Kortemeier made the start and went four innings, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out two. JD Knight took the loss for Elmhurst, lasting 2.2 innings and allowing six hits and seven runs. He walked two and struck out three.
