ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst baseball team banged out 13 hits while toppling IIT 8-1 at Butterfield Park.
Elmhurst ran its record to 8-10 overall while IIT slid to 6-10 on the season.
The Bluejays started the scoring in the second inning on
Paul Fomby's RBI double. A
Chad Tucker sacrifice fly in the third gave Elmhurst a 2-0 lead.
Jacob McMillan singled home a run in the fourth and
Drew Raspolich doubled home a run in the fifth to double the Bluejays' lead at 4-0.Â
Elmhurst scored three times in the sixth. Lorzeno Farino singled home a run to start the scoring and
Chad Tucker followed with a two-run homer.
Tyler Kledzik singled home the Bluejays' final run in the seventh inning.Â
McMillan led Elmhurst at the plate with three hits while Tucker recorded two hits, scored two runs and drove in three.
Colin Winston and Kledzik collected two hits apiece in the win.Â
Elmhurst's pitching staff kept IIT off the scoreboard until the ninth inning.
Nathaniel Jones earned the win for the Bluejays, tossing five innings and allowing four hits and three walks while striking out three.Â
