ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst baseball team came up shot in a non-conference tilt with Aurora University, falling to the Spartans 14-3 at Butterfield Park. 

Elmhurst (8-18) jumped out to a 2-1 lead after one inning thanks to a Jacob McMillan RBI fielder's choice and a Jordan Scrimpsher RBI double. 

Aurora (20-6) reclaimed the lead on a two-run homer from AJ Gill. The Spartans broke the game open in the fourth, scoring six runs after sending 12 batters to the plate and taking advantage of four walks. The Spartans added a run in the fifth and put the game away in the sixth on a David Purviance grand slam.

Jacob McMillan drew a bases loaded walk to force in Elmhurst's final run of the game in the seventh. McMillan finished the game with two RBIs while Drew Raspolich, Trey Compton and Scrimpsher finished with two hits apiece.

Karson Thomas took the loss for Elmhurst, working 3.2 innings and allowing nine hits and eight earned runs.
