NEW ALBANY, Miss. - The Elmhurst College women's tennis team dropped a pair of matches over the Bluejays' spring break road trip to Mississippi. Elmhurst fell 8-1 to Blue Mountain College before narrowly dropping a 5-4 decision to Itawamba Community College.
Elmhurst moved to 7-6 on the season with the pair of losses.Â
BLUE MOUNTAIN 8, ELMHURST 1 - Blue Mountain improved to 7-5 on the season with an 8-1 win over Elmhurst on Monday.Â
Kathryn Wheeler secured Elmhurst's only point of the day, scoring a 6-0, 6-0 win over Emily Standard at No. 6 singles.Â
ITAWAMBA 5, ELMHURST 4 -- Elmhurst fell to 7-6 on the season after narrowly dropping a 5-4 final to Itawamba Community College.Â
Itawamba took two of the three doubles matches while the two squads split the six singles contests.
Elmhurst scored its doubles point at No. 2 when Wheeler and
Lindsey McAuliffe upended Riley Crouch and Farrah Fowlkes 8-1.Â
In singles play,
Chiara Gaudio downed Julianna Alves 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 while McAuliffe topped Claire Ferguson 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3. Wheeler dispatched Caroline Ferguson 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 for the Bluejays final singles point.Â
