JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -
Jordan Scrimpsher struck out 10 over eight innings and also knocked in two runs at the plate while leading the Elmhurst baseball team to a 5-2 road win over MacMurray College.
MacMurray (2-6) jumped out to a 2-0 lead after three innings, capitalizing on an Elmhurst error to plate two unearned runs.
Elmhurst loaded the bases with no outs in the fifth and the Bluejays pulled even at 2-2 after Scrimpsher singled home two runs. A sacrifice fly from
Tyler Kledzik put the Bluejays in front for good.
The Bluejays added a run in the sixth on a wild pitch and tacked on an insurance run in the eighth on a
Drew Raspolich RBI single.
Scrimpsher finished with two hits and two runs driven in at the plate.
From the mound, Scrimpsher limited MacMurray to just five hits and two unearned runs over eight innings of work. He walked four while striking out 10.
Kevin Johlie pitched a perfect ninth inning with a strikeout to earn his first save of the season.
Elmhurst kicks off a six-game Florida road trip to the RussMatt Invitational on March 23.
