ELMHURST, Ill. - Elmhurst's
Jake Rhode has been named a third-team preseason All-American by D3hoops.com.
Rhode, a junior guard for the Elmhurst men's basketball team, was one of just 25 players selected to the preseason All-America teams. He was one of just two players from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin to earn the recognition.
Rhode was named a first-team all-conference selection and a third-team D3hoops.com all-region honoree after averaging a team-leading 19.9 points and a team-best 112 assists during the 2018-19 season. He was named the CCIW's Freshman of the Year during the 2018-19 season while averaging 13.3 points per game an 128 assists.
Rhode enters the 2019-20 season just 15 points shy of 1,000 for his career. His 268 career assists currently ranks sixth on Elmhurst's all-time list and his 131 career three-pointers is the eighth-highest total in Elmhurst history.
Elmhurst opens the 2019-20 season by hosting St. Norbert College on Saturday, November 16.
