KENOSHA, Wis. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team fell to 2-5 in the CCIW following a 9-0 road loss at Carthage College.
Carthage (3-3 CCIW) swept the six singles and three doubles matches en route to the win.
Giana Apostoli and Jen Ptak defeated Elmhurst's
Ysabel Gonzaga and
Dacey Maglaque 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. Sam Ramsey and Rachel Anderson stopped Elmhurst's
June Bering and
Silvia Barak 8-1 at No. 2. Nia Pham and Sierra Sonnemaker scored an 8-1 win over the Bluejays' duo of
Bailey Ekstrand and
Lindsey McAuliffe 8-1 at No. 3.
In singles play, Apostoli toppled Gonzaga 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 while Ptak defeated Maglaque 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2. Ramsey got past McAuliffe 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 while Ekstrand fell 6-4, 6-2 to Anderson at No. 4. Pham upended Barak 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 while Sonnemaker scored a 6-0, 6-1 win over Bering at No. 6.
Elmhurst hosts Augustana College on Friday, October 11.
