ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team scored its second win in three matches by edging North Park University 5-4 at the Brune Tennis Courts.
Elmhurst (2-7/2-4 CCIW) won two of the three doubles matches while splitting the six singles contests.
North Park's Linn Viuhkonen and Patrycja Miazek downed Elmhurst's
Ysabel Gonzaga and
Dacey Maglaque 8-5 at No. 1 doubles. Elmhurst scored wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
Nina Pasquini and
Kristina Radakovic stopped Lisa Viuhkonen and Kendra Belisle 8-3 at No. 2 while
Lindsey McAuliffe and
Bailey Ekstrand toppled Sara Stan and Hannah Rosenbaum 8-1 at No. 3
In singles play, the two teams went back and forth to knot the score at 4-4. Gonzaga broke the tie and sealed the win for Elmhurst with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Linn Viuhkonen at No. 1. Pasquini stopped Lisa Viuhkonen 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2. North Park scored wins at No. 3 through No. 5 with Miazek toppling McAuliffe 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3, Stan defeating Ekstrand 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4 and Belisle defeating Maglaque 6-2, 7-5.
Elmhurst plays at Carthage College on Wednesday, October 9.
