ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst football team struggled in a 43-0 loss to Illinois Wesleyan University at Langhorst Field.

Elmhurst (1-5, 1-4 CCIW) struggled to move the ball on offense, while Illinois Wesleyan (4-2, 4-1 CCIW) took advantage of short fields to put 43 points on the scoreboard.

The game started on a positive for the Buejays as
Stefan Postman picked off IWU quarterback Johnny Dicanio on the first play from scrimmage. Taking possession at the Titans' 38-yard line, Elmhurst turned the ball over three plays later.

IWU put points on the scoreboard midway through the first quarter, driving 54 yards in just three plays. Dicanio capped the drive with a 16-yard touchdown pass to Jack Healey. Following an Elmhurst three-and-out, the Titans strung together a five-play, 43-yard drive capped by a six-yard touchdown run from Hamid Bullie.
The Titans made it 17-0 late in the second quarter on an Andrew Strange 21-yard field goal. After an Elmhurst punt, the Titans found the end zone one more time in the opening half, scoring on a 32-yard strike from Dicanio to Dean Zigulich. The score gave the Titans a 24-0 lead at the half.

IWU sacked Elmhurst QB
Noah Henkel and scored a safety at the start of the third quarter. The Titans scored on their ensuing possession, capping a five-play, 47-yard drive with a three-yard touchdown run by Dicanio.

IWU added another touchdown in the third quarter and a field goal in the fourth to make the final score 43-0.

Elmhurst was held in check on offense as the Bluejays managed just 146 yards for the game. Elmhurst rushed for 41 yards while passing for 105. The Titans totaled 418 yards, rushing for 188 and passing for 230. The Bluejays converted just 1-of-12 third down attempts in the contest.

Anthony Antrobus led Elmhurst on the ground with three carries for 19 yards. Henkel completed 7-of-19 passes for 85 yards while
Casey Dobczyk caught two passes for 46 yards.

Dicanio sparked the Titans' offense by passing for 225 yards and two touchdowns and running for a third score. Zigulich was the Titans' top target, catching five passes for 63 yards and a score.

Bryce Gable led Elmhurst's defense with nine tackles while
Lavor Little totaled eight.

Elmhurst travels to Millikin University on October 26.
