ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst volleyball team remained unbeaten in CCIW play after scoring a 22-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-19 win over Augustana College at R.A. Faganel Hall.
Elmhurst upped its record to 7-11 overall and 2-0 in the CCIW with the victory while Augustana slid to 8-10 overall and 2-1 in league play.

Elmhurst looked to be in control in the opening set, building a 21-16 lead, but Augustana roared back, finishing the set on a 9-1 run to jump out to an early lead. Elmhurst answered back in the second, building a quick 12-5 lead and never looking back. The Bluejays led by as many as 11 points while cruising to the 25-16 win.

The Bluejays led for much of the third set, grabbing a 14-11 lead. Augustana pulled to within two points at 20-18, but a 3-0 run from Elmhurst pushed the Bluejays' lead up to five. The Vikings managed to fight off two set points before Elmhurst put the set away on a
Kayla Mast kill. Elmhurst once again built a quick lead to start the fourth set. The Bluejays raced out to a 9-3 lead before Augustana pulled to within one at 12-11. Elmhurst responded with a 7-2 run to open up a 19-13 lead before closing out the set and the match.

Elmhurst hit .235 for the match with 62 kills and 24 errors in 162 attempts. Four Bluejays posted double-digits in kills with Mast leading the way with 19 kills to go along with 18 digs.
Payton Froats added 13 kills while
Taylor Zurliene finished with 11 kills and 15 digs.
Ellie Burzlaff chipped in with 10 kills for the Bluejays.
Emily Duis added eight kills while
Hannah Horn led the team in assists with 51.
Emily Finkbeiner chipped in with 17 digs for Elmhurst.

Grace Bialobok finished with 16 kills to lead the Vikings. Brooke Harmon and Laure Heuermann added nine kills apiece for Augustana.

Elmhurst has a week off before resuming CCIW play at Carthage College on October 9.
