Box Score 2 OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Elmhurst volleyball team closed out the second day of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational with a pair of victories. The Bluejays swept Martin Luther College 3-0 and then blanked Wisconsin Lutheran College 3-0 to finish the tournament with a 3-1 record.
Elmhurst upped its record to 4-5 overall with the victories. The Bluejays dispatched Martin Luther 25-21, 25-16, 25-9 before defeating Wisconsin Lutheran by scores of 25-19, 25-22, 25-18.
ELMHURST 3, MARTIN LUTHER 0 - Elmhurst picked up its third win of the season in a three-set sweep of Martin Luther.
The Bluejays hit .203 for the contest with 23 kills and 10 errors in 64 attempts.
Bailey Brouwer led the way for Elmhurst with eight kills and three blocks.
Emily Duis added four kills while
Kaye Lesure finished with three.
Payton Froats led the team in blocks with four.
Valerie Thomas totaled a team-best 15 digs while
Kelly Townsend finished with 18 assists.
ELMHURST 3, WISCONSIN LUTHERAN 0 - Elmhurst scored its second-straight victory and closed the tournament with a 3-1 record by sweeping Wisconsin Lutheran in three sets.
The Bluejays hit .277 for the contest with 37 kills and just 11 errors in 94 attempts. Brouwer and
Taylor Zurliene combined for 20 kills while both being named to the all-tournament squad. Brouwer pounded down 13 kills to go with three blocks while Zurliene totaled seven kills and 10 digs. Duis and Lesure added six kills apiece for the Bluejays while Thomas recorded a team-best 15 digs. Townsend led the Bluejays in both assists (30) and service aves (five) in the victory.
Elmhurst plays at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Tuesday, September 11.
