OLIVET, Mich. - The Elmhurst men's soccer team picked up its first victory of the 2018 season by shutting out Olivet College 3-0.
After a scoreless first half, Elmhurst (1-2) exploded for three goals in the second half to upend Olivet (0-3).
Luke Deel,
Jared Plotka and
Keegan Thompson all scored goals for Elmhurst in the victory.
Deel started the scoring for the Bluejays in the 60th minute, connecting on his first goal of the season off an assist from Plotka. Plotka made it 2-0 in favor of the Bluejays with an unassisted strike in the 73rd minute. Thompson scored the final goal of the contest off a penalty kick in the 82nd minute.
Elmhurst outshot Olivet 11-8 in the contest and enjoyed a 12-2 edge in corner kicks.
Donnie Kvien picked up the shutout in goal for Elmhurst. Kvien stopped both shots he faced in net.
Elmhurst hosts Dominican University on Saturday, September 8.
