ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's soccer team dropped its 2018 season-opener after falling to Loras College 1-0 at Langhorst Field.

Loras scored just 2:20 into the contest and the Duhawks made the one goal stand up for the remainder of the game. Ryan Ross touched a pass to Javi Simon and Simon sent a cross through the box for Manny Lopez. Lopez put the ball into the back of the net to stake the Duhawks to an early lead and account for the game's only score in the process. 

Loras outshot Elmhurst 12-5 in the contest. The Duhawks also had a 15-3 edge in corner kicks, but the Bluejays turned Loras away on all of the set pieces. 

Donnie Kvien recorded several point blank saves to keep the Bluejays in the contest. Kvien took the loss in goal despite making five saves for the Bluejays.

Elmhurst hosts St. Norbert College on Sunday, September 2, at 1:00 p.m.
