ELMHURST, Ill. –
Trey Compton cracked a pair of home runs, but that was all the offense the Elmhurst baseball team could come up with in a 12-2 loss to North Central College.

Elmhurst fell to 19-16 overall and dropped to 9-11 in the CCIW with four games remaining. North Central improved to 22-9 overall and 17-2 in league play with the win.

North Central scored in each of the first three innings while building a quick 4-0 lead. Ryan Scott drove in two runs in the second with a double to help spark the Cardinal's quick start.

Compton put Elmhurst on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third with a solo homer to left field, but North Central broke things open in the fifth with six hits and five runs, extending their lead to 9-1.
Compton smashed his second homer of the game in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 9-2, but the Cardinals tacked on three runs in the sixth to earn the 10-run victory

Compton and
Trevor Horwath finished with two hits apiece for the Bluejays. Elmhurst finished with eight hits in the loss but stranded nine runners on base in the loss.

Nathan Tovell took the loss for Elmhurst, working 4.1 innings and allowing 10 hits and nine runs. John Clifford picked up the win for the Cardinals, tossing five innings and allowing just six hits and two runs while striking out seven.
