CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst baseball team won the rubber game of a three-game series against North Park, scoring a 3-1 victory against the Vikings.
Elmhurst upped its record to 17-13 overall and 7-8 in the CCIW with the win while North Park slid to 13-16 overall and 8-6 in league play.
Jordan Scrimpsher put the Bluejays on the board first with an RBI single. Elmhurst made it 2-0 in the third on
Jacob McMillan's run-scoring single.
North Park loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth, but Elmhurst limited the damage to just one run on a sacrificie fly. McMillan's second RBI of the night in the seventh tacked on an insurance run for the Bluejays.
McMillan led Elmhurst at the plate, finishing 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
Nathan Tovell earned the victory from the hill, working six innings and allowing just five hits and one run. He walked two and struck out one.
Alex Kielion notched his fourth save of the season by pitching three perfect innings of relief. Kielion did not allow a baserunner while striking out two.
Elmhurst hosts Carthage College in a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 25.
