ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -The Elmhurst baseball team split a pair of games at Augustana. The Bluejays fell 3-1 in the resumption of a game that was suspended from last week. Elmhurst bounced back to topple the Vikings 10-4 in the final game of the three game series.
Elmhurst moved to 15-12 overall and 6-8 in the CCIW while Augustana improved to 18-9 overall and 6-6 in league play.Â
AUGUSTANA 3, ELMHURST 1 - Augustana held on for a 3-1 game in the conclusion of a game that was suspended after six innings last week.Â
Augustana led 1-0 after six innings when the game was halted. The Vikings scored a run in the third on Jack Hallmark's two-out single. Elmhurst was held to just one hit for the first five innings, before loading the bases with one out in the sixth. Back-to-back fielder's choices ended the scoring threat for the Bluejays.
The Vikings tacked on a run in the eighth to take a 2-0 lead. The Bluejays scored a run on a wild pitch in the eighth, but stranded the trying run in scoring position. The Vikings tacked on an insurance run in the ninth to earn the 3-1 victory.Â

Tyler Kledzik totaled two hits apiece to pace Elmhurst in the loss.
Nathan Tovell took the loss for Elmhurst, pitching all nine innings and allowing just seven hits and three runs. He walked one and struck out five. Chris Refka picked up the win for the Vikings, working eight innings and allowing six hits and one run while striking out five.Â
ELMHURST 10, AUGUSTANAÂ 4 - Elmhurst scored eight runs over the final three innings to rally for a 10-4 victory over Augustana.Â
Trailing 1-0 in the second,
Austin MacMillan's RBI single tied the game at 1-1.
Jordan Scrimpsher singled home a run in the third to put the Bluejays in front 2-1.Â
The Vikings scored two in the fourth to move in front 3-1, but Elmhurst tied the game in the top of the seventh with a run on an Augustana error. The Bluejays moved in front 4-3 on McReynolds' RBI single in the eighth inning and then broke the game wide open in the ninth. Elmhurst sent 11 batters to the plate in the ninth and scored six runs, taking a 10-3 lead before holding off the Vikings by a 10-4 final score.Â
MacMillan finished 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs to lead Elmhurst at the plate. Compton, Scrimpsher,
Jacob McMillan and
Matt Wilson recorded two hits apiece while also driving in a run apiece.
Karson Thomas added two hits while
Trevor Horwath and
James Wick also knocked in runs.Â
Nick Drago improved to 4-1 by picking up the win from the mound. Drago worked seven innings and scattered eight hits and three runs (just one earned). He walked one and struck out four.Â
Elmhurst hosts the University of Chicago in a doubleheader on Sunday, April 21.Â
